XY800_10HMI Successfully Applied in LNG Deethanizer Bottom Reboiler Project

We gladly to share a recent project milestone: our ATEX-certified explosion-proof HMI terminal XY800_10HMI has been successfully installed and put into operation at an LNG production site, serving the Deethanizer Bottom Reboiler process unit.

In LNG plants, the upstream purification system is a key section of the process flow. The Deethanizer Bottom Reboiler plays an important role in removing heavy hydrocarbons (C2+) before cryogenic liquefaction (-162°C). If C2+ is not controlled properly, freezing and blockage risks may occur, which can impact the stability and safety of the entire LNG process.

Although modern LNG projects are typically equipped with advanced automation systems such as DCS, APC, and SIS, a reliable field HMI remains essential during commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance bypass, and emergency handling. In many cases, the on-site HMI is still the most direct and effective interface for engineers to monitor process data, review trends, and execute operational adjustments.

For this project, the XY800_10HMI was selected due to its strong suitability for hazardous area field applications, including:

High brightness display (>1000 cd/m²) for outdoor and strong sunlight environments
Wide industrial temperature range (-40°C to +50°C)
ATEX (CSA) certification for Zone 1 (gas & dust)
Support for Profibus DP / Ethernet communication, enabling direct integration with DCS and control systems

This successful field application once again proves iConEx’s capability to provide stable and compliant explosion-proof HMI solutions for LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, and process automation projects.
